DESIGN 102 | Deconstruct

  • the black squirrel 651 Addison Street Berkeley, CA, 94710 United States (map)

rip. cut. stitch. wear.

This workshop is for anyone (over 16) who would like to learn how to create by reinvention. Do you have something taking up space in your closet that you never wear but the fabric is gorgeous or something that doesn’t fit quite right but the memories are good?

bring a few options- clothes in need of a make-over:

-turn a pullover into a cardigan -merge 2 jackets into one

-add pockets to a garment -re-design necklines, sleeves + hems

-turn pants into a skirt -change the shape with tucks, darts etc

the possibilities are endless…inspiration photos from fall 2019 collections

This 3 hour classes will teach you a few basics and spark your imagination. You will learn all you need to know to finish one simple deconstruction project in class-more complicated projects will need to be finished at home.

Purchase your own thread + extra fabric + supplies (tools provided). Feel free to bring your own sewing basket too.
